Sharon Bowles Lib Dem MEP

Sharon Bowles, Liberal Democrat Member of the European Parliament for South East England, has been selected by South East Lib Dem members to be top of the list for the Lib Dems for the 2009 European Elections.

Under the European Proportional Representation system, the South East of England is represented by ten MEPs. Seats are allocated to candidates on the Party lists depending on the Party's share of the vote. One could regard a Westminster election as a list of one, with again Party members choosing who that one is. So it is not really that different.

Commenting on her success; Sharon Bowles said:

"I am delighted to be leading the Liberal Democrat team for the 2009 European Elections in the South East of England. Many thanks to everyone who voted for me."
